Community Service

Community service has been part of both the provisional group and provisional chapter’s programming. The group has collected new and used books for distribution at community festivals. Members have also collected and organized winter apparel (hats, mittens, and scarves) and donated more than 50 sets to two schools as part of their “A Snowy Day Service Project.” In addition, the chapter has participated in age group activities that have included the distribution of Thanksgiving baskets, serving at soup kitchens, and community walks.

In October 2020, Jack and Jill Western Massachusetts Chapter teamed up with Open Pantry Community Services and Springfield College to distribute nutritious food boxes to the Springfield community in need.

The tractor trailer full of USDA Food packages were donated by COSTA Fruit and Produce, a Boston based food distribution company. And community families in need of food were encouraged to pick up the free boxes at the Springfield College Safety Center parking lot located on Portsmouth Street in Springfield.

Volunteers from Springfield College joined chapter members, children and fathers, to distribute the boxes.
